Lynyrd Skynyrd

Originally released in 1973, this classic rock anthem is on Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest songs of all time. Some say the lyrics are about a guy telling a girl why he just can’t settle down. The opening verse, “If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?” was inspired by Allen Collins’ girlfriend Kathy, who had asked him this very question during a fight. After Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Ronnie Van Zant died in a plane crash, the band would play the song instrumentally without vocals in his honor and the crowd would sing all of the words.
